Abstract

528,892. Bearings. SOC. ITALIANA PIRELLI. May 16, 1939, No. 14646. Convention date, June 9, 1938. [Class 12 (i)] A bearing is made of hard rubber reinforced with textile material. The bearing may be produced by wrapping round a core a sheet of fabric treated with a hard rubber compound containing a proportion of graphite. After a sufficient number of layers have been added the cylinder thus formed is vulcanized and cut and ground to size. Alternatively the bearing may be cut from a block consisting of a series of superposed rubber treated textile layers vulcanized together. In another modification a metal sleeve is lined with layers of fabric-rubber compound which are then vulcanized.
