528,754. Cramps. WHITELEY, F. May 4, 1939, No. 13300. [Class 61 (ii)] [Also in Group XXV] A woodworkers' cramp of the kind comprising a stationarily positioned jaw and a lever and link or otherwise operated movable jaw such as that described in Specification 460,917 has one of the jaws adapted as a mounting for one or more plates for carrying dowels or dowel holders whereby the dowels are located and supported correctly so as to be forced into the wood when the movable jaw is actuated. The cramp has one jaw 2 fixed in adjusted position on the bar 1 by a peg 3 and the other jaw 4 actuated by a lever 6 and link 5. Jaw 4 has a number of slots 8 enabling a dowel holder plate or plates 10 to be mounted thereon by means of a clamping bar 11 and bolts 9 one of which passes through a slot 13 in the plate 10. The latter has series of differently spaced holes 14 along the edges and may have intersecting slots 13 at right-angles to each other so that it may be arranged on jaw 4 with any pair of edges horizontal. The holes 14 are tapped to receive the threaded stems of dowel pin holding sockets 15.
