Abstract

528,244. Refining and mixing paper pulp &c. VINCENT, H. L. X., and PAPETERIES DE BELGIQUE SOC. ANON. Feb. 16, 1939, No. 5199. [Class 96] Fibrous material, asbestos-cement &c. is mixed, refined &c. between a moving surface 3, and a succession of rollers 11 having transverse or oblique grooves, the rollers 11 being positively and resiliently held at a certain spacing apart. The supports 12 of the rollers 11 are secured directly or through springs or slides to adjustments 13 actuated at 16, the rollers being driven by gears 18, 19 exerting a braking action. The drum 3 which may be of metal, and rotated through gears, belt &c. has tracks 6 running against rollers. The grinding surfaces may be roughened or covered with wood, lava, basalt &c. Deflectors may prevent splashing through the open ends of the drum 3 and guide the material through it.
