Abstract

527,784. Ignition systems. BOWLES, P. April 15, 1939, No. 11518. [Class 7 (iv)] Condensers 11, 12 are arranged in series across a source of current 10. A transformer winding 14 is connected between the condensers and at its other end to a switch the movable member 16 of which engages contacts 17, 18, for discharging the condensers alternately through the transformer. The source 10 may provide either direct or alternating current. One or more thermionic valves may replace the switch, the grid-circuit being periodically closed to discharge one of the condensers. A small transformer may be associated with each sparking plug, the lead from the point 13 being taken direct to a rotary distributer.
