[Class 146.(i)] A looseleaf book incorporates binding means made of a single piece of wire characterized in that said wire is resilient and provided with longitudinal portons 26, Fig. 4, between coil portions 25 each comprising more than two convolutions 27 which are out of contact with one another. 'The coil portions 25 fit into T-shaped slots 16 in the sheets 12, Fig. 3, by squeezing them together and pushing them through the slot portion 20 whereupon they expand and completely fill the remaining portion 61a which may have enlargements 17, 18 or parallel sides, Fig. 10. Slot 20 may be disposed centrally to slot 61a or to one side and may be straight or zig-zag shaped. The convolutions may be round, round with a flat side, oval, oval with a flat side. or square. The binding element is secured to the back 61, Fig. 13, of cover 60 by a metal strip 64 which may or may not be slotted at 70 to receive the coil portions 25 and is secured by staples or rivets 71 to the back 61. Strip 64 may cover the connecting portion 26 of the coil portions 25. The binding element may be secured to cover portions 11, Fig. 3, in the same way as to the sheets 12, coils 25 fitting similar T-shaped slots 15. The binding element may be made of celluloid or other material instead of metal.
