526,782. Rotary pumps and motors; locking nuts. ERNST, W. April 24, 1939, No. 12319. [Class 102 (i)] [Also in Groups XXV and XXIX] The cylinder block 35 of a hydraulic motor or pump, which is rotatably carried through tapered roller bearings 38, 39 on a fixed shaft 34, rotates within a secondary rotor comprising side members 100 and a mid member 101 spacing and uniting them, this mid member having a hardened inner annular surface on which bear rollers 96 carried by axles in the pistons; the eccentricity of the secondary rotor is variable by a shift-ring 110. The inner ends of the cylinders open into passages 32, 33 cut in the shaft 34 and communicating with longitudinal inlet and outlet passages 30, 31. The inner races of the bearings 38 are slidable on the shaft to vary the diametral clearance of the bearings by shifting the shaft, which is held in its adjusted position by a nut 20. The nut is cut transversely at one point, the parts being held together by a screw bolt 24 to lock the nut. Oil passages are formed in the piston faces, and passages 61, 62 in the cylinder block and an extension on the drive shaft 49. This shaft actuates a gear pump 140, 143 dealing with leakage in the hydraulic system.
