Abstract
526,596. Electrically heated fabrics. CRESSALL, H. H. March 22, 1939, No. 9013. [Class 39 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A heating resistance wire or ribbon 4 is incorporated as wefts into a woven fabric, the warps 1 of which comprise spun glass threads arranged in spaced pairs, with a selvedge 2 on each side comprising, for example, eight closelyspaced threads. The ends 6 of the resistance wires are bent back to form connecting tags and may have terminals, but intermediate tappings may also be provided. At each end, insulating wefts 3 of spun glass or asbestos yarn form a close-textured non-metallic margin 5, produced by cutting in half insulating sections which alternate with conducting sections of the fabric. The margins 5 and selvedges 2 may be varnished for stiffening purposes, the margins being used for assembling a number into a resistance-bank by means of bolts and insulating spacers.
