Abstract
526,501. Valve relays. ASSOCIATED ELECTRIC LABORATORIES, Inc. March 17, 1939, No. 8636. Convention date, March 19, 1938. [Class 40 (v)] An impulse responding circuit includes a relay in the anode circuit of a valve so biased about the lower bend of the anode current grid voltage characteristic that the relay winding normally carries current but means are provided to ensure its release when no alternating current impulses are being received. The received signals are repeated by a relay energized by a condenser discharge so that the repeated signals are of constant duration. The relay 22 is normally held in the de-energized condition by current flowing from +B over 23, 22 and 28 to -B. When a signal is received current also flows in opposition to this from +B through valve 15, relay 22 and 26 to -B and the armature 29 moves to make contact 31. Condenser 32, which has been charging over 35, 36, is discharged through relay 14 and this relay energizes to close contacts 13 and repeat the signal over 12. The impedance of relay 14 and the capacities of condensers 32 and 38 are adjusted so that relay 14 remains energized for the same time interval no matter for how long the relay 22 is energized.
