Abstract

299,295. Siemens & Halske Akt.- Ges. Oct. 22, 1927, [Convention date]. Manual exchange systems. - In systems in which signals are transmitted over a telephone line by alternating currents of a frequency within the voice range, the receiving arrangements comprise linked rectifiers I, II, associated with filter circuits F1, F2, the latter of which passes only the signal frequency whilst the former passes all other frequencies but rejects the signal frequency. Signal currents passing through filter F2 and rectifier II operate relay M, but if other frequencies are, present the operation of rectifier I renders rectifier II non-conducting so that a momentary speech current of signal frequency will not operate relay M. A high resistance and condenser in the grid circuit of the rectifier II render the current in relay M independent of changes in the amplitude of the signal frequency, provided this is above a definite critical value. An amplifier may be inserted between filter F1 and transformer Ue3. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also an arrangement in which the anode circuit of the rectifier I includes a relay controlling normally-closed contacts in series with relay M or with a further relay controlled by relay M. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
