Abstract
526,243. Cooling roasted or sintered materials &c. MIAG MUHLENBAU UND INDUSTRIE AKT.-GES. March 6, 1939, No. 7221. Convention date, March 21, 1938. [Class 51 (ii)] Hot granular materials such as roasted or sintered materials are cooled by distributing them on a bed of loose bodies of material capable of resisting the heat involved-and having good heat conducting properties so as to constitute efficient heat exchange elements by means of which a vigorous exchange of heat is obtainable, a cooling draught being blown through the bed of loose bodies and through the material to be cooled..The depth of the bed of loose bodies is preferably many times greater than the depth of material being cooled. As shown the material to be cooled is fed through a conduit 3 on to a bed of loose bodies 5, which may be of iron or steel rings, balls or stamp waste, and is distributed by the blades of screw conveyers 4 towards a discharge outlet 6. Air is blown through the bodies 5 and the bed of hot material from pipes 7, 8. Material passing through the bed 5 is collected in a channel 9 and removed by a conveyer 10 to an outlet 11.
