[Class 9 (i)] An incendiarycharge element consists of a spontaneously ignitable core 1 hermetically enclosed in a thick- walled cover 2, which is the incendiary charge proper. The core may be white phosphorous, zinc ethyl, or the like, and the cover is formed by dipping the core into celluloid solution, or solutions, a number of times. If the core be liquid, it may be first enclosed in a thin-walled casing of inflammable material, and then dipped as above. A hand-grenade comprises a number of incendiary charge rings formed as above, with an axial burster charge inserted through them.
