525,390. Magnetic separators. GREAVES, R. Feb. 21, 1939, No. 5712. [Class 72] In a magnetic separator of the shoot type in which the stream of material flows over a series of magnets arranged in steps at successively lower level, the poles 3-8 which are connected by yokes 9, 10 form part of permanently magnetized units A, B, and are provided with undercut or bevelled edges 13. The channelled recesses 13 between the poles are filled with white metal or other non-magnetic material and the units A, B may be connected together by bolts 2. Adjacent poles are arranged so as to have an opposite polarity. In a modification each unit consists of two pole pieces instead of three pieces, connected by a yoke.
