Abstract

524,888. Sifting apparatus. TURNER, H. Feb. 10, 1939, No. 4376. [Class 117] Rotary screens comprise an inner drum A, Fig. 1, of perforated sheet or wire mesh material, and an outer concentric drum B formed of bars E which extend longitudinally of the drum. The bars may be uniformly spaced or the spacing may increase from the feed to the discharge end, and may be secured by welding or bolting to end rings b', b<SP>4</SP> with intermediate supporting rings F. Alternatively, the bars may be made up into arcuate frames which are built up on rings to constitute the drum, the spacing between the bars of the frames in successive rings increasing in the direction of the discharge end. The outer drum is supported from the inner drum by brackets and may be of truncated form or cylindrical in which case it is provided with an internal helical rib for conveying the material through it.
