To all whom it may concern.'

Be it known that I, HUGO Pion, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Vinnetka, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois', have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Culinary Strainers, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The invention relates to culinary strainers. In devices of this type, it has been customary to provide a striker by which a blow may be imparted to the conoidal perforated member, to strike off the material adhering in the perforations, these devices being usually used for soups and thick liquids. In this use, the strainer sometimes becomes broken or damaged and in some instances it is desirable to use perforated members having perforations of different sizes, so that the iineness of material passing through the strainer may be varied.

The object of the invention is to provide an improved culinary strainer in which it is possible to replace the perforated member without destroying` the remaining parts of the utensil.

The invention consists in the several novel features hereinafter set forth and more par-y ticularly defined by claims at the conclusion hereof.

In the drawings: Fig. 1 is a perspective of a device embodying the invention. Fig. 2 is a. vertical axial section. Fig. 3 is a detail upon an enlarged scale showing the rings and perforated member separated to illustrate their construction.

In practice, it is frequently desirable to subject the strainer to impact to shake oif the material adhering thereto and for this purpose a striker-head 15 is held below the apex of member 8, being` secured by a series of rods 16 distributed around the member 8 and having their upper ends riveted, as at 17, to collar 10. In thus using the strainer, it frequently happens that the perforated member becomes broken and the invention makes vit possible, by removing the screws 11, to separate kthe perforated member 8 from the ring 4L and the collar 10, to which the striker is secured. As a result, it is easy to replace the strainer 8 while retaining the remaining parts.

The invention is not to be understood as restricted to the details set forth, since these may be modified Within the scope of the appended claims, -without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.

Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

1. In a device of the character described, the combination of a supporting ring, a perforated conical metal strainer having its outer margin lapping and separable from the ring, a striker below the strainer and supported from the ring, and means to removably secure'the margin of the strainer to the ring.

2. In a device of the character described, the combination of a supporting ring, a perforated conical metal strainer having its outer margin lapping` and separable from the ring, a striker below the strainer, supporting means from the ring, and means to removably secure the margin of thev strainer and said striker supporting means to said ring.

3. In a device of the character described. the combination of a supporting ring. a perforated conical metal strainer having itsV outer margin lai'iping and separable from the ring, a striker below the strainer. a collar ittiug around and separable from the margin of the strainer, rods connecting the collar and the striker, and screws between the collar and the ring and' removably securing the collar, strainer and ring together.
