524,802. Fluorescent silicates and tungstates. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., ANDERSON, J. T., and WELLS, R. S. Nov. 5, 1938, No. 32095. [Class 1 (iii)] [Also in Group XL] In the manufacture of fluorescent compounds an intimate association of two substances which are to be reacted to form such a compound, e.g. under the influence of heat, is obtained by the precipitation of one substance on particles of the other. For example, in the production of zinc silicate, SiO 2 may be precipitated from a solution of a soluble silicate containing ZnO or an insoluble zinc compound may be precipitated from a zinc salt solution containing SiO 2 . Similar means may be used in the preparation of the silicates of calcium, cadmium and beryllium and the tungstates of zinc, calcium, cadmium and magnesium. Specification 485,232, [Group XX], is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 333,884, [Class 1 (iii)], 347,223 and 485,232, [Group XX].
