Abstract

523,855. Electric hair-waving. WHITMAN, S. C. Jan. 16, 1939, No. 1509. Convention date, Jan. 19, 1938. [Class 39 (iii)] [Also in Group XL] A gaseous electrical discharge tube 3 is provided with a clip 22 for retaining in position a lock of hair and used for curling or waving. Capacity elements 6 are mounted in sleeves 20, 21 and connected to internal electrodes 4, 5 ; they are arranged below a single capacity element connected to a highfrequency electric field. In a modification, the discharge tube is intended for use with low-frequency electric energy and fitted with a plug-in connection. Fig. 19 shows a gaseous discharge tube fitted with a filament 95 to carry a relatively heavy current.
