Abstract
523,584. Variable condensers. FIDES GES. FUR DIE VEBWALTUN'G UND VERWERTUNG VON GEWERBLICHEN SCHUTZRECHTEN. Jan. 7, 1939, No. 625. Convention'date, Jan. 7, 1938. [Class 37] One electrode 31 is borne on the outside of a tubular ceramic &c. member 26 having a bore into which is fitted a tubular or solid member 28 carrying a second electrode or electrodes 29, 30 shown as covering a part of the inner surface of a tube. By rotating the inner member the capacity between the electrodes is varied owing to the varying of the thickness of the dielectric. Variation in the nature of the dielectric' can be introduced by having bores 32 containing air. The inner electrode is screened in all positions by the outer. In modifications, the outer member is of circular section, the bore being eccentrically placed, or the outer member may have a section of spiral outline and air bores are of circular, flat or arcuate section. In the modification, Fig. 13, variation of capacity can be effected by either axial movement or rotation or a combination of both, by making the outer member 39 of varying crosssection along its length and longer than the inner member 42. In this case, also, air chambers 44 may be introduced into the outer member.
