523,051. Refractory resistance materials. GES. ZUR. VERWERTUNG CHEMISCHTECHNISCHER VERFAHREN. Nov. 22, 1938, No. 33964. Convention date, Nov. 29, 1937. [Class 22] [Also in Group XXXVI] Non-metallic electric resistances prepared by sintering or fusing are prepared from granular or pulverized metal oxide compounds such as zinc or cadmium ferrite or ferro aluminate bound together by the same compounds in a colloidal state. The colloidal compounds may be obtained by grinding the compound in a solution of soda or other electrolyte or by precipitating the compounds from solutions containing salts of the two metals. Alternatively, mixtures of the constituent oxides may be used. The metal oxide compounds may be obtained as a fine powder by fusing the compound or the constituent oxides in an alkali salt which is afterwards washed out with water, and the resistances may be formed from mixtures of the compounds in granular, fine and colloidal conditions.
