Abstract

522,663. Sliding-clasp fastenings. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., REINKEN, L. W., and HART, P. F. Dec. 20, 1938, No. 37035. [Class 44] A sliding clasp fastener for securing two edges 3, 4 of material comprises a continuous beading 5 along one edge which is inserted into a continuous resilient grooved member 6 of complementary shape on the other edge by means of a slider 7 which has a solid bulbous shaped connecting neck piece 8 which during the upward fastening movement opens out the groove to allow the beading to ente: and during the down ward unfastening move ment opens the groove and acts to force the beading out therefrom The beading and groove are shown as of circular section but dovetail or other section may be employed. Twin grooves and beads, as showr in Fig. 6, may be employed. The fastening members may be con tinuously extruded from flexible resilient thermo plastic material such a; rubber and cut to lengths. The fastening may be applied to covers for guns, railway trucks, and machinery.
