Abstract

522,510. Signs. WILLIAMS, H., and MAPLE & CO.. Ltd. April 27, 1939, No. 12644. [Class 3 (ii)] [Also in Groups XL] A gas filled electric discharge tube contains indicia in the form of electrically conductive bodies spaced apart from each other lengthwise of the tube, insulated from both electrodes, and coated or otherwise provided with material which luminesces under the action of the discharge. As shown in Fig. 3, the gas freed copper letter 6 is provided at the rear with lugs bent to form spring clips 15 which engage glass tubes 9, 10 as shown in Fig. 2, which is a transverse section across the length of the tube 1. These glass tubes 9, 10 are maintained in position by sprmg strips of gas freed stainless steel provided with C- shaped portions 11, 12 and bent over portions 13, 14. One of the tubular electrodes 3 is supported on a wire 4 from an external contact 5. The indicia are preferably slightly off the axis of the tube.
