Abstract

[Classes 132 (i) and 132 (iii)] [Also in Groups XXXI and XXX] A point or switch structure for a toy vehicle track for vehicles 1, Fig. 2, supported by side wheels and guided by a single rail 3 comprises a detachable unit having a short trunk rail portion; two or more short branch rail portions and a movable portion for establishing continuity between the trunk rail and any of the branch rails. In the construction shown in Figs. 8 and 9 the switch is mounted on a board 21 inset in a base board 20 and comprises a movable switch arm 27 having a flexible portion 28 connected to a short trunk rail 24, branch rails 25, 26, 26<SP>1</SP> being also mounted on the board 21. The arm 27 has an extension 29 formed with a slot engaging a fixed pin 30. The flexible part may consist of a coil spring provided if necessary with a soft wire filling. In the construction shown in Fig. 10 a flexible switch arm 43 is pivoted at 44 and its ends may, be bent so that any of the rails 41 may be connected with any of the rails 42. In the construction shown in Figs. 11 and 12 the guide rail is iormed as a double electric conductor having two parallel strips 36, 37 the lower strip being connected by its support' 38 to the metal plate 34 carrying the switch 33. The strip 36 of the switch is electrically connected by pivot 35 to the plate 34, and the strips 37 of the branches 32 and the switch 33 are respectively connected to the strip 37 of the trunk rail 31 by a conductor 39 and a flexible wire 40. The switch arm in any construction may be moved by means of a bar slidable along its axis in the switch plate 21 and having a pivotal and slidable connection with the switch arm. The guide rail 3 may form either a single or a double conductor as described in Specification 493,132, [Group XXX], and the collector may be the guide rollers 4. Fig. 2, or a separate .collector as shown in Fig. 5 in which two insulated rollers 11, 12 make contact with different conductors of the twin cable 3. In a modification spring-supported rollers may engage one on each side of a twincable composed of parallel strips.
