Abstract
520,652. Commutators for dynamo-electric machines; improving commutation. AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE & ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and SAVILLE, W. Oct. 27, 1938, No. 31136. [Class 35] To prevent sparking all the segments of a commutator are permanently bridged by a material the resistance of which decreases with increased voltage, such as a mixture of silicon carbide with carbon, tungsten or molybdenum. The material may be formed as a disc' or segments at the end of the commutator, and it may be sprayed with metal to facilitate connection, or it may replace same or all of the insulation between the segments.
