Abstract

520,275. Optical sound-recording. KODAK, Ltd. Oct. 13, 1938. No. 3182/40. Convention date, Oct. 13, 1937. Divided out of 520,156. [Class 40 (ii)] An electric circuit for class B push-pull variable-density sound-on-film recording comprises an input circuit such as a transformer 12, two three-electrode glow discharge lamps 52, 53, means connecting a pair of electrodes 54, 56 of one of said lamps across a portion of the input circuit, means connecting a pair of electrodes of the other of said lamps across another portion of the input circuit, one or more sources of potential biasing said pairs oppositely just below the extinction point, and means including the third electrode 58 maintaining a glow in each lamp. In the circuit, Fig. 1, the lamps are connected to two separate secondaries 26, 27 of the transformer each lamp circuit having two biasing batteries 66, 68 and three resistances 34, 64, 60. In the preferred circuit, Fig. 2, the lamps are connected across the two halves 26, 27 of a tapped secondary, a single battery 62 with a tapping connected to the mid point of the secondary serves for all the bias potentials, and only two resistances 34, 60 are required for each lamp.
