519,643. Thermionic valves. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Sept. 26, 1938, No. 28024. Convention date, Sept. 25, 1937. [Class 39 (i)] In mixer valves for superheterodyne reception, having local oscillator control grid 20, a screen grid 22 and a radio-signal control-grid 23 arranged in succession between the cathode 16 and anode 15, an additional grid 22a is placed between the grids 22, 23 and connected to the cathode or otherwise maintained at a potential below that of the space when the grid 22a is placed, so that " space-charge coupling " causing the induction of voltages of oscillator frequency in the signal-grid circuit is reduced. An additional screen grid 24 and oscillator-anode rods 21 may be added. The cathode is indirectly heated by a reverse coiled tungsten filament and the electrodes are supported by mica spacers 12.
