519,321. Hydraulic transmission apparatus. VICKERS, Inc. Sept. 20, 1938, No. 27340. Convention date, Sept. 29, 1937. [Class 69 (ii)] A hydraulic transmission system comprises a motor, a variable delivery pump, an adjustable flow control valve and a by-pass valve in parallel therewith, the adjustable flow valve governing the rate of movement of the motor irrespective of the hydraulic pressure on the inlet side thereof, and there is also a control of the rate of delivery of the pump in dependence upon the pressure on the inlet side and further there is a control of the bypass valve, so that the motor is fed either wholly through the adjustable flow or excluded therefrom. An electric motor 7 drives a variable delivery pump 5, the pistons 21 of which are connected by universally jointed connecting rods 15 with a plug 14 on the driving shaft and the cylinder block 16 of which is connected to the shaft by a rod which is universally jointed at its ends. The pump is pivotally supported by a link 19 which is under the influence of a piston 18 subjected to the inlet pressure of the pump through a pipe line 26a and to a spring 29 which acts against such liquid pressure. An adjustable stop 23 is provided to limit the angle through which the cylinder block may be turned. The pipe lines pass through a fourway control valve 8 to a double-acting cylinder 9, the piston 37 and rod 38 acting to feed the tool 39 to and from the work. Other pipe lines pass to a balance valve 30 in a block 10 which also contains a throttle valve 31 for adjustment of the flow. In addition there is a by-pass line 44 to a by-pass valve 41 which is adapted to be moved by a cam member 40 mounted on the spindle 38. Specification 399.609 is referred to.
