Abstract
518,965. Switching systems. MANLOVE, ALLIOTT & CO., Ltd., and HODGES J. M. July 11, 1938, No. 20516. [Class 38 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVII] Solenoids 621, Fig. 7, actuate in desired sequence the valves of a sterilizing &c. apparatus, and are energized by closure of mercury tube switches 86, 87, 88. Simultaneously with the energization of any solenoid 621, a corresponding solenoid 62 is energized and after a delay opens a mercury tube switch 70 thereby inserting a resistance. 71 in circuit with the solenoid 621, so as to reduce the current therein to a value just sufficient to maintain the associated valve open. The switches 86 &c. are rocked by cam secors 89, 90, 91, Fig: 8, which are oscillated by an interchangeable programme disc 84 driven by an electric clock motor. Fig. 4 shows one of the solenoids 62, associated switch 70 and time lag device 69. Specifications 390,221 and 467,408 [both in Group XXIX], are referred to.
