Abstract

799,572. Automatic exchange switches. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES. July 13, 1956 [July 15, 1955], No. 21812/56. Addition to 797,913. Class 40 (4). In a switch of the type described in the parent Specification, enclosed contact sets passing through the holding winding and the operating winding parallel thereto are provided for the purpose of energizing the holding winding. In one embodiment, Fig. 2, each of the cross-point contact sets 1, 2, 3 associated with the intersections of a vertical column coil RS and the horizontal row coils ZS1 ... 3 includes contacts s1 ... s3 connected in parallel for energizing the vertical hold coil HS. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3, there is provided a separate contact set s arranged to be operated when the column coil RS and a control coil SS are energized and subsequently to be held by the holding winding HS. The control winding SS may be common to a number of columns or individual to the contact set. The control winding SS may be independently energized, Fig. 4 (not shown); connected in series between the row and column coils, Fig. 5 (not shown); connected in parallel with the row or column coils, Figs. 6a, 6b (not shown); connected in series with the row or column coils, Figs. 7a, 7b (not shown); or may comprise two windings, one connected in series with the row coils and one in series with the column coils, Fig. 8 (not shown). In the case where individual control coils are they may be connected in series with their associated column coils, Fig. 9 (not shown). Provision is made for ensuring that simultaneous operation of a column coil and the corresponding hold winding does not result in false operation of contacts whose row coil is not energized. To this end the holding coil is provided with two oppositely poled windings HW, KW. In one method of connection, Fig. 10, when the energization of the row and column coils RS, ZS results (either immediately or eventually) in the closing of the contact s, the coils HW, KW are energized in opposition, thereby having no effect. When the contacts ek open, KW is disconnected at the same time as RS and the coil HW remains energized to hold the connection. In a second method of connection the coil KW is connected up by an auxiliary contact s2 operated at the same time as s1 energizes HW. The coils KW may instead form part of the column winding with similar effect. In another arrangement, Fig. 12, the winding KW is connected up immediately to provide reverse flux, but the horizontal coil ZS is as dimensioned that when energized its field over-rides that of KW to cause contact closure in conjunction with the column coil RS. The connection is subsequently held by the energization of HW over contact s.
