Abstract

1403945 Switching systems for solenoids VETCO OFFSHORE INDUSTRIES Inc 23 May 1973 [28 Sept 1972] 24568/73 Heading H2H [Also in Division F2] A solenoid-actuated valve is actuated by a high electric potential provided through the closure of a switch 93 in a switching circuit 71, which switch opens after actuation and disconnects the high electric potential and replaces it by a a lower electric potential sufficient to hold the valve open. The valve is closed by the opening of a switch 97 which closes after actuation to leave the switching circuit in its initial position. The switches and relays 79, 87 are normally biased to the position shown in Fig. 4 to leave the valve unactuated. Closure of switch 95 actuates both relays to reverse the position of contacts 83, 85, 91, 93 to the position shown in Fig. 5 where the high potential (90V) is supplied to the solenoid. Subsequent opening of switch 95 deactuates relay 87, but relay 79 remains actuated and supplies the lower potential (24V) to the valves. Opening of switch 97 deactuates the relay 79.
