Abstract
517,800. Hollow - ware. LOVATT'S POTTERIES, Ltd., and MITCHELL, R. F. Feb. 14, 1939, No. 4840. [Class 66] Drips at the lip of a pouring spout of a liquid receptacle are siphoned back into the receptacle by means of a small bore duct or tube 3 formed separately from the spout 2, or formed as part of a fitting 7, Fig. 2, to be attached to the spout, and such tube or duct has an upper end opening 4 located at the'under edge of the spout while the lower end opening 6 is at some distance below. During pouring the tube 3 becomes filled with liquid and when the receptacle is restored to normal position the liquid in the tube 3 siphons back into the receptacle and so retracts any drip at the lip of the spout. The spout may be detachable from the receptacle. The small bore tube may be formed of earthenware by extrusion and be fixed in the spout by firing before or after the glaze is applied.
