Abstract

517,628. Colour photography. KODAK, Ltd. Aug. 2, 1938, No. 22845. Convention date, July 31, 1937. [Class 98 (ii)] A thin silver halide emulsion layer having a high silver halide content for the silver dyestuff bleach-out process is produced by centrifuging an emulsion containing at least 6 per cent., preferably at least 10 per cent. of gelatine, dispersing the silver halide grains thus removed to produce a coloured gelatine dispersion and coating on a support. In a modification the unwashed silver halide grains produced by centrifuging a gelatine-silver halide emulsion are dispersed to produce the coloured gelatine dispersion. In an example green-sensitized high contrast emulsion is centrifuged for ten minutes, 90 per cent. of the silver halide grains are recovered on the centrifuge walls ' and are dispersed in gelatine dyed with Algol Pink BBK. The dyed emulsion is coated on a transparent support. Dispersions of red- and bluesensitive emulsions may be similarly prepared and coated on glass, cellulosic material, or paper. Vat or azo dyes of colours complementary to the colour sensitivity may be used to colour the layers.
