492,518. Fine - grain photographic pictures; colour development. I. G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES. Jan. 18, 1937, Nos. 1464 and 1465. Convention dates, Jan. 18, 1936 and Jan. 29, 1936. [Class 98 (ii)] Fine-grain neutral-gray or black photographic pictures are produced by colour development or by the silver anti-diazotate process on material having one or more silver halide emulsion layers each having substantially the same spectral sensitivity and containing two or more dyestuff components yielding colours together giving a neutral-gray or black shade. The different dyestuff components may be contained in separate emulsion layers. The silver formed by the development may be removed. The emulsion layers may be on one or both sides of the support. The colour developer may contain one or more dyestuff components. Reversal development may be employed. Colour developers referred to are 2 : 6-dibromo-4-aminophenol and 2 : 6-dichloro-4-aminophenol and dyestuff components referred to are 4 : 4<1>- dipyrazolonediphenyl (for red), di-(1-hydroxynaphthoylamino) - diphenyldicarboxylic acid (for blue) and terephthaloyl-bis-acetanilide (for yellow). The gradation of copies may be influenced by the selection of coloured copying lights. Specifications 387,197 and 458,400 are referred to.
