Abstract
517,247. Diesters. ARMOUR & CO. Aug. 31, 1938, No. 25486. Convention date, Nov. 22, 1937. [Class 2 (iii)] Diesters of unsaturated glycols are prepared by causing a fatty acid chloride having twelve to eighteen carbon atoms to react with an alkali metal while in an inert solvent for the fatty acid chloride, e.g., ether. Examples are given of the preparation of the dilaurate of tetracosene-12, diol-12, 13 from lauryl chloride, dimyristate of octacosene-14, diol-14, 15 from myristyl chloride and distearate of hexatriacontene-18, diol- 18, 19 from stearyl chloride. The products are wax-like materials useful as dielectrics and in waxing and polishing compositions.
