Abstract

517,155. Pipe couplings TURNER, W. Aug. 24, 1938, No. 24849. Addition to 465,264. [Class 99 (i)] A tyre valve connector comprising a tyre valve unseating pin 9d and spring clutch members 16b adapted to engage the threads on the valve casing when a sleeve 17 is moved over their ends, as claimed in the parent Specification is modified by making the connector body open at both ends for the reception of a tyre valve stem, each end being provided with a tyre valve unseating pin 9d and clutch members formed from spring blades having their operative ends turned over to project within the open ends of the connector and engage the thread of the tyre valve casing when the ends are displaced inwardly by movement of the sleeve 17. Valves 9 associated with the unseating pins 9d normally seat upon washers 8 retained in the body 1 of the connector by abutments formed therein or formed by a sleeve 19 secured thereto by an internal flange on a screw cap 20. A coil spring 10 maintains the valves 9 on their seats 8 which are kept expanded against the body 1 by spring pressed metal washers 15. The spring blades each comprise a straight intermediate portion between two raised end portions. The connector is carried by a hollow rigid handle through which the air supply passes.
