Abstract

516,759. Spectacles. TENNANT, W. J. (American Optical Co.). April 24, 1939, No. 12321. [Class 97 (i)] The connection between the lens rim and a nose-pad 6 comprises a stud' projecting from a side of one of the members, e.g., the pad. and having a main body part 7, which may be of substantially oblong cross-section, engaging loosely a correspondingly-shaped hole 16 in the other part, e.g., the supporting arm 5 attached'to the lens rim, and a reduced extension 8 adapted to receive means for securing the pad to the arm, such as a washer 19 over which the end 21 of the stud is headed, said means being slightly spaced from the main body part 7 of the stud so as to provide, in conjuction with the loose fit of the stud in the hole 16, a predetermined amount of play for the pad. The stud is rigidly attached to the metal plate 11 of the pad, which is encased in non-metallic material 10.
