Abstract

516,640. Pivotal joints. COOPER, H. C. July 2, 1938, No. 19662. [Class 65 (ii)] A pivotal joint for electric fittings consists o two members 11 formed from sheet metal provided on the edges of the lower parts with teeth 14 which interengage when the two members are bent and brought together to form a cylinder. The lugs 10 are provided with holes 12 for the pivot pin. Instead of forming it from two pieces, it may be formed from one. The joint may be connected to a tube &c. 18 by a sleeve 16, 17 surrounding the joint and tube. In another form, the joint has clamps along.the two edges by which it is fixed to an inner tube. In another form it has a circumferential groove by which it is kept in an outer sleeve by a pin mounted in the sleeve. In another form, its lower edges have teeth by which the joint is attached to a toothed base plate. The teeth may be of various shapes.
