Abstract

516,632. Lamps for floodlighting. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and TURNER, H. J. A. July 1, 1938, No. 19581. [Class 75 (iv)] In electric floodlight, and like lamps comprising a trough shaped reflector and one or more linear light sources or series of interconnected light sources both ends of the source are independently adjustable relative to the reflector to facilitate focusing. Fig. 2 shows a focusing arrangement for one end of the source comprising a fixed support 16 in bores of which spindles 17 and 18 of a support 15 are transversely displaceable by a screw 13 and an extension 10 slidably adjustable upwards along the support 15 by a screw 27, 'slots in the extension 10 through which the screw 13 and a clamping screw 14 pass permitting this movement. The contact members are supported on a bar 5, Fig. 5 connected between the extensions 10. To facilitate relamping these members may comprise pointed contacts 9 projecting into depressions in the end caps of the lamps and mounted on resilient brackets 21 slidably displaceable against spring action in guide sockets 23 integral with the bar 5 by means of a cam 24 having a flat 28 locking it with the side of the bracket 21.
