Abstract

515,788. Seats. CHESTON, A. S., and BOOTH, J. H. May 12, 1938, No. 14129. [Class 52 (ii)] In seats particularly for motor vehicles and aircraft, an adjusting member is adapted to co-operate with an abutment across the angle between a pivoted leg and a member to which the leg is pivoted such as a squab frame. A screw 10 mounted on the leg 7 bears against an abutment 12 mounted on the seat frame 5 the surface of the abutment being curved for bracing purposes. Fig. 3 shows an arrangement to secure a positive lock in both directions, a reduced portion 14 of the screw 10 engaging in a slot 15 in the abutment 12. Fig. 4 shows another arangement in which the arm 19 of a bell-crank lever 17, 19 co-operates with an abutment 18 by means of teeth 20. The member 19 may be secured to the floor or mounted to slide.
