Abstract

515,652. Sliver &c. guides for flax and like spinning-machines. MACKIE & SONS, Ltd., J., and MACKIE, J. P. June 23, 1938, No. 18712. [Classes 120 (i) and 120 (ii)] The sliver or roving guides in the drawing- heads of spinning-machines for flax, hemp, jute and the like are so mounted that they may be adjusted by a single operation in accordance with the setting of the breast plate or other parts between the retaining and drawing rollers, so that in any adjusted position the sliver or roving is supported along the full length of the guide without any abrupt change of direction up to the nip of the drawing-rollers. The guides 5, Fig, 1, are supported, as by a spring 9 and ferrule 11, Fig. 3, on a bar 6 carried by cranks 7 which are adjustable about pivots 8 at the level of the lower ends of the guides 5 by screw and slide mechanism 12. The cranks 7 may be dispensed with and the bar 6 mounted in suitably curved guide slots. Specification 407,690 is referred to.
