Abstract
515,444. Gas burners. MAIN WATER HEATERS, Ltd. (formerly OMNIA MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd.), and GREGORY, A. R. June 1, 1938, No, 16440. [Class 75 (i)] In a multi-flame gas burner, particularly for water heaters, and of the luminous kind comprising a plurality of perforated burner tubes 14, 15 extending laterally from one or each side of a common supply pipe 10, the tubes 14, 15 are arranged in. two different planes. In the form shown in Figs, 2 and 3 the tubes 15 extend through the pipe 10 above the axis thereof and communicate therewith through apertures 17, and the tubes 14 are cut away to engage over the top of the pipe 10 provided with apertures 19. The tubes are secured by welding or brazing and closed at the ends by squeezing. The outlets 21, 22, 24 are arranged in staggered relationship and decrease in size. Outlets 23 are provided also in the middle of each tube 14. In a modification, Fig. 5, the tubes 14, 15 are circular in configuration, and the tube 15 may be formed in semi-circular parts, the ends of which are inserted in apertures in the pipe 10. The outlets are all of the same size. Alternatively, the tubes 14, 15 may extend outwardly and upwardly in the form of a wide-angled V from the pipe 10 to facilitate ignition by a pilot-light located in the crutch of the V. The tubes may be bent to the required angle after assembly in the pipe. Dimensions of the burners are given.
