Abstract
515,142. Making tie bolts. JASELLI, E. Feb. 22, 1938, No. 5613. Void. Convention date, Feb. 22, 1937. [Classes 83 (ii) and 83 (iv)] Forging-machines.-Tie bolts of the form shown in Figs. 2 and 3 and used for aeroplane construction are made by upsetting electrically heated rod in apparatus involving electrodes in the form of a vice and anvil. Either the vice or the anvil can be moved backwardly during the upsetting operation. Guides are employed for the bar during the operation and in Fig. 7 these are in the form of rolls l, l<1> which supply the upsetting pressure to the rod a to force it against the anvil g, a vice electrode f being employed.
