[Classes 44 and 65 (ii)] [Also in Group X] Doors for resisting gas attacks are provided with a resilient sealing strip 23 on one face adapted to be pressed against the frame by springs 37 acting on the wedge-shaped fastening bolts 34. The pivots are mounted in slots and are also pressed by springs 31 towards the frame. The bolts are preferably operated simultaneously by r a c k 122 and pinions 123 driven by hand - wheel and reduction gearing. Fig. 7. To prevent straining of the packing double jointed hinges comprising an intermediate shackle or a fixed rigid abutment 108. Fig. 7, maybe provided. The door body comprises two metal plates 102 and channel-shaped connecting members 104 and a filler 105 of concrete and iron, Fig. 8. The fastening bolts engage rollers &c. in the spring- controlled eye sockets 113, Fig. 7.
