Abstract
514,809. Luminescent materials. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. June 7, 1938, No. 16925. Convention date, June 9, 1937. [Class 39 (i)] The coloured image obtained on the fluorescent screen in a cathode ray tube is projected by an optical system on to a diffusing projection screen containing fluorescent material which, when subjected to radiation by the coloured image, fluoresces in a region or regions of the spectrum which jointly with the colour of the initial image, give a substantially white image. The fluorescent substance of the cathode-ray tube may be green-fluorescing zinc silicate and the fluorescent substance of the projection screen is orange- and red-fluorescing rhodamine. When the fluorescent material of the cathoderay tube is a mixture of calcium tungstate and magnesium silicate the fluorescent substance of the projection screen is fluorescein. A ground glass projection screen may be viewed on the side remote from the tube.
