Abstract
514,711. Sulphonic acid chloride sulphonates. I.G. FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT. - GES. May 13, 1938, No. 14340. Convention date, May 13, 1937. [Class 2 (iii)] A process for making aromatic sulphonic acid chloride sulphonic acids or salts thereof comprises reacting upon an aromatic sulphonic acid chloride with a sulphonating agent. Thus, 10 parts of naphthalene-#-sulphonic acid chloride are introduced at 15-20‹ C. into 80 parts of fuming sulphuric acid containing about 4 per cent. of sulphur trioxide, to give sulphonated naphthalene - # sulphonic acid chloride. Other examples describe the sulphonation of o-toluene-sulphonic acid chloride, of diphenyl-4-sulphonic acid chloride, of 1- phenoxy - anthraquinone - 6 - sulphonic acid chloride, of anthracene-#-sulphonic acid chloride and of 1-acetoxynaphthalene-5-sulphonic acid chloride.
