514,648. Vehicle bodies ; seat arrangements. HUMBER, Ltd., and KELLY, S. May 12, 1938, No. 14158. [Classes 103 (ii) and 108 (i)] In a motor road vehicle body having a partition separating the rear and driver's compartments a, b, a marginal part c or each such part of the partition lying adjacent a door e is hingedly mounted on the bodywork d so that its inner free edge can be swung towards the front of the body to provide an increased gap at the entrance of an occasional seat f when the latter is extended, the seat normally being folded against the partition or into a recess in the partition. The partition part c may be movable independently of the seat but, as shown, is connected by a link o, a member i horizontallyslidable in guides j, and a link k to lug m on one of the legs h of the seat, the legs being pivoted at their lower ends to the floor g. Thus, as the seat is extended or retracted, the mechanism causes the free edge of the part c to swing forwardly or rearwardly respectively.
