[Class 4] The mounting of all or, part of the accessory apparatus not directly necessary for the operation of the aero engine is effected on the outside . of a multi-drive gear-box fixed on. the aeroplane structure independently of the engine from which the gear-box is driven through a cardan joint allowing oscillations of the engine relative to the gear-box.' The generator is driven through bevel gears 18, 18a, and a torquelimiting device 34 adjusted so that it only transmits the maximum torque for normally driving the generator. The shaft 15 drives two gear-wheel pumps 36 one of., which lubricates the gear-box and accessories requiring lubrication and the other pumps lubricant from the box to a reservoir. The shaft 12 is resilient.. In a modification, the shaft 12 is splined for freedom of axial movement to a ball-joint 39, Fig. 6, from which the drive is transmitted through splines 40 to the torque limiting device . A protective casing 42 is provided.
