514,089. Electrolytic treatment of water. DENINGER, J. Jan. 20, 1938, No. 1946. Void. Convention date, Jan. 20, 1937. [Class 41] In apparatus for the oligodynamic sterilization of water, the water is given a preliminary oligodynamic treatment before being passed through a filter to remove germs and through the final treatment chambers. The water passes through a chamber a containing electrodes c of the same or different oligodynamic metals, and then to a filter b on the surfaces of which it is stated metal ions are deposited which prevent bacteria growing through the material of the filter. The filtered water is passed in succession through a series of similar vessels 1-7 containing electrodes c. The connecting pipes may have non-return valves to prevent downflow or the pipes may rise above the top of the chamber into which they discharge. Where the water has a free outlet, the flow may be downward through the series of chambers.
