Abstract
513,864. Electromagnetic relays. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. (Western Electric Co., Inc.). April 21, 1938, No. 11983. [Class 38 (v)] In a multi-contact relay, a mounting plate 1 carries layers of fixed and movable contact springs 8, 14 and two magnets 4, 5 with armatures 23, 24 which control respectively the upper and lower halves of the sets of springs. The contact springs are clamped along the left hand edge of the plate 1, and the right hand ends of the fixed contact springs are clamped at the right edge of the plate 1 by screws 21 and distance pieces 22. The free ends of the movable contact springs are actuated by the movements of the edges 42 of the armatures 23, 24. The armatures are pivoted on knife-edge bearings at the ends and centre of the plate 1 and are held in place by members 31, 38. Two springs 50 serve to guide a cover for the relay and prevent it from knocking against the contact springs.
