[Class 81 (ii)] [Also in Group VII] An absorbent pad for infants' use, to be pinned on in the same way as a diaper or for insertion into a diaper or napkin consists of three groups of layers of soft absorbent cellulose wadding, the upper group b in immediate contact with the skin being treated near the edge with a semi-solid lubricant or oily substance, e.g. medicated paraffin wax, which melts in contact with the body. The second group c is impregnated with substances, e.g., boric acid, which neutralize the irritant properties which characterize the discharge, and the third group d with vegetable extracts, e.g., essence of pine, acting as deodorants. The underside of the pad may be formed with a thin sheet e of impermeable paper. Thin binding strips of paper coated on the undersurface with a rubber adhesive may be interleaved between and extend beyond the edges of the layers whereby the pad may be attached to a diaper a. The three corners of the pad may be reinforced by doubling the material.
