Abstract
510,981. Winding yarns. SCHARER-NUSSBAUMER & CO. April 19, 1938, No. 11737. Convention date, Nov. 13, 1937. [Class 120 (ii)] In a yarn-winding machine comprising a movable supporting frame carrying a number of holders for the bobbins or cop tubes which are moved to and from the winding position by the movement of the frame, a bobbin or cop which has been previously wound and removed from the winding position is automatically released from its holder while another cop or bobbin is being wound and is automatically replaced by an empty bobbin or cop tube which latter is then moved into the winding position as the other cop or bobbin, now completed, is removed from the winding position. As shown the bobbins 8, 8<1> are held between driving heads 7, 7<1> and counterheads 9, 9<1> mounted in plates 1, 11 carried by hollow shafts 12, 3 mounted on a fixed shaft 4. The plate is connected by the shaft 3 with a similar plate 2 and the plates have tails 1<1>, 1<11>; 2' 2" adapted to co-operate with a rail 5<1> during the winding of a bobbin in the manner described in Specification 467,301. The heads 7, 7' are carried on spindles 6, 6<1> driven by an endless belt extending across the roller 6 and the heads 9, 9' are carried by spring controlled plates 10, 10<1> hinged to the plate 11. When the winding of a bobbin is completed the carriage formed by the plates 1, 2, 11 and associated parts has moved along the rail 5<1> so that the tail 2<11> of the plate 2 is clear of the end of the rail and the tail 1<11> of the plate 1 is opposite a gap therein with the result that the carrier is rotated to bring the fully wound bobbin from the winding position I to the dropping position II and moved back to its original winding position with an empty bobbin ready for winding and the carrier held in position by the tails 1<1> 2<1> engaging the rail 5<1>. As the winding of the fresh bobbin continues the carrier moves along the rail 5' until the plate 10<1> encounters a spring-controlled and adjustable stop lever 14, the plate being then moved on its hinge by the lever to release the fully-wound bobbin which falls into a receptacle while an empty bobbin is transferred from' a magazine 17 to a position between the heads 7<1>, 9' and, as the plate 10<1> leaves the lever 14, the head 9<1> is moved back by its spring to clamp the empty bobbin in position while the bobbin in position I is being wound. The empty bobbin is taken from the magazine by grippers 23 and a lever 24, the grippers being shaped to receive a bobbin and being mounted by springs for limited rocking movement in a rod 22 extending from a lever 21. The levers 21, 24 are mounted on a shaft 20 carrying a pinion 25 gearing with a toothed sector 26 linked to a crank pin 29 on a shaft 30 carrying a slidable clutch element 31 and cam 35 engaged by a lever 36 pivoted on a bolt 37 and co-operating with a roller 38 on a spring-loaded lever 39. When the bobbin at the winding position is fully wound and the carriage reaches its outermost position an arm 41, loose on the shaft 4 and connected to the carriage so as not to rotate therewith, has been pushed along the shaft so that it contacts with the lever 36 which is rocked to engage the clutch element 31 with a continuously-rotating clutch element 32 to rotate the shaft 30 and rock the sector 26 so that the grippers 23 and lever 24 are first moved to take the lowermost bobbin from the springs 18, 19 at the bottom of the magazine and then to swing with the empty bobbin to position the latter between the heads 7<1>, 9<1>; at the end of this operation the parts move back to their original positions and cam 35 moves the lever 36 so that its end moves over the roller 38 and disengages the clutch element 31 from the element 32.
