Abstract

510,668. Moulding screw-threaded articles by injection. EVERY, C. E. (Eckert & Ziegler Ges.). Feb. 14, 1939, No. 4878. [Class 87 (ii)] In injection-moulding machines for the manufacture of screw-threaded articles, such as caps for collapsable tubes, comprising a fixed mould half A, a movable mould half B and cores 16 for forming the screw threads, the cores are rotated and axially displaced by a threaded spindle 24 which moves with the mould half B and is provided with a screw thread 28 which engages a stationary nut 29. The fixed mould half A comprises plates 1, 2 carrying diemembers 3 and an inlet 6 whereto an injection nozzle is applied. The mould half B comprises plates 8-13 bolted together. The plate 13 carries die-members 15 wherein the cores 16 are mounted. Each core has a portion 17 for forming the screw threads and a threaded part 18 engaging a nut 19 fixed in the plate 11 such that when the core is rotated, it is also displaced longitudinally. The spindle 24 rotates the cores by gearing 25, 23, 22, 20, on movement of the mould half B and relative movement of the thread 28 and nut 29. Ejector pins 37 work in bores in the cores and are operated by plates 33 moved in a cavity 32 in the plate 11 by engagement of a rod 34 with a fixed stop 36. The rod 34 may have an adjustable end 35.
